Say Yes to FCS
In Montana, and nation-wide, there is an established and growing shortage of Family and Consumer Sciences teachers. This is too often resulting in FCS program closures, thus closing FCCLA chapters as well. Encourage students to Say Yes to FCS an pursue a degree in FCS Education from Montana State University. There is also a Say Yes to FCS Education Scholarship available to recruit and retain family and consumer sciences education students. This is a $500 renewable scholarship.Say Yes to FCS

FACTS: Module 2
Only 51% of Montana teens buckle up EVERY TIME they get into a vehicle and in 58% of fatal crashes in Montana, the victims weren’t buckling up. Of those people who die in vehicle crashes in Montana each year, 7 out of 10 are not buckled up. These are just a couple of the chilling statistics of preventable crashes on Montana roads.
This year, Montana FCCLA is partnering with the Montana Department of Transportation for our State Outreach Project VisionZERO which is a campaign and initiative with the goal of eliminating deaths and injuries on Montana roads. We, the 2017-2018 State Executive Council challenge you to always wear your seatbelt. We encourage you to think about the reasons that you buckle up and to encourage others to do the same in order to help eliminate fatal crashes in our state.Module 2 Video
FACTS Module 3
There is a lot to think about when you are behind the wheel, including speed, where you’re going, who is with you, and more. Too often drivers are not sharing and reading the road for potential hazards. Drivers, especially teen drivers, must be aware of dangers such as pedestrians, animals, and other vehicles. Drivers also must be aware of their surroundings and share the road with emergency vehicles. The FCCLA National Program FACTS along with our State Outreach Project Partner, Montana Department of Transportation, encourage all drivers to share the road and read the road every single time.Module 3 Video
